Pure Joy

“Consider it pure joy, my brothers, and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.  Let perseverance finish it’s work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.” (James 1:2-4 NIV)

Sometimes when you meet people you immediately get the sense the Lord has placed them in your life for a reason.  During our short friendship, Jenn, has taught me so much.  Not only is she one of the sweetest souls you’ll ever meet, but she talks about her life as though the things she wants have already happened! I love this and have felt challenged to do the same (more to come in a later post).

A few years ago Jenn left the security of her job at Starbucks to pursue her passion and become a full time Life and Leadership coach.  Jenn and I went through pregnancy and becoming new moms around the same time so we spent a lot of time talking about our futures together.

“What is holding you back from pursuing your passion?” Jenn would ask her clients.

“When you can identify what is holding you back you can begin to overcome it,” she would say.  Listening to her was so interesting but at the time I had no idea what I was most passionate about outside of my family and friends.  The Lord was using Jenn to plant seeds in my heart for things He had already begun.  At the time I had never written a ‘Purpose Statement’, I had never used a DSLR camera, and I had never shared my story or the stories of others openly on social media.  In fact, if someone had told me that a year later I would be doing these things I probably would have ran, because I wasn’t ready.  The Lord had to put pieces in place for the puzzle to work and the picture to begin to come into view for me.

One amazing thing that happens when people are truly living their passion?  They are typically SO joyful!  Jenn is definitely one of these people and the joy overflows from her!  Another amazing side effect?  You can see this joy overflowing to those around her!  You can see it in her sweet husband, Brian, and you can definitely see it in their adorable son, Oliver.  Perhaps this is one reason the Lord tells us to,

“Consider it pure joy, my brothers, and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.  Let perseverance finish it’s work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.” (James 1:2-4 NIV)

When we are joyful, people want to be near us, they are attracted to that joy.  When we are joyful, people lean in to what we have to say.  It opens up a platform to share the reason for our joy, but it also opens a platform to share our trials and what the Lord working in us through them.  My sweet friend Jenn has not had an easy life.  She has not had everything handed to her and she has definitely seen her fair share of trials.  However, she has made the choice not to let those trials steel her joy, and for that myself, and the countless others she has impacted, are so grateful!

Thank you Jean for sharing your joy and your passion with the world, and I cannot wait to see what the Lord will do through your precious family of four!

His Love,

Krista
